Eating out in Inverness – great new restaurant

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Last night we tried a great new restaurant in Inverness – Aspendos is a Turkish restaurant which opened 2 weeks ago in Queensgate.

The menu features an excellent variety of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern dishes. The meze for 2 offers 10 different starters and is excellent value. We tried lots of different dishes and they were all very flavoursome and delicious. Plenty of choice for both carnivore and vegetarian alike!

The owner, Mustafa, couldn’t have been more welcoming and his staff are friendly and attentive. In spite of only opening recently the restaurant was doing excellent business – word is obviously spreading fast about this most welcome addition to the Inverness restaurant scene.

If you’re visiting Inverness we recommend you try Aspendos – your Inverness B&B host will be only to happy to arrange a reservation on your behalf.

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Ness Soaps produces a wonderful selection of quality, locally produced hand crafted soaps. The range includes gift selections, novelty soaps (Nessie monsters, thistles, dolphins, hearts), and beautifully presented soap blocks, in a fabulous array of delectable scents such as lavender, lemon, geranium, lime, lemongrass, rose geranium, grapefruit, rosemary.

Ness Soaps is a social enterprise business founded in 2006 to provide opportunities for adults with learning or physical difficulties or who are long term unemployed. It now employs 2 full time and 1 part time members of staff, and provides work placements for 19 adults.

The soaps can be purchased from Araveli Gift Shop in the Inverness Victorian Market and, from the summer onwards, from Ness Soaps’ soon to be opened shop in Strothers Lane.

Ness Soaps is supported by members of the Inverness Guest House Association, Trafford Bank and Moyness House, which both provide these delicious soaps to their guests.
