Inverness Film Festival 2009

The Inverness Film Festival returns to Eden Court Theatre from 11-15 November 2009.

Films from around the world will be screened plus a dozen Scottish Premieres. Unlike the Cannes Film Festival it will not be a jury but the audience who decides who merits the award from the 30 films to be screened. One film, the Swedish thriller “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, is already rumoured to be the hot favourite with huge pre-sales. The festival opens with the Australian drama “The Boys Are Back” and other films to be screened include “A Serious Man”, “No Country For Old Men”, “44 Inch Chest” starring Ray Winstone, “The Informant” and Foreign Language Oscar Winner “Departures”.

WildHearts Highland Santa Run 2009

WildHearts Highland Santa Run 2009 takes place in Inverness on 29th November 2009. The Santa Run takes a scenic 5km route along the River Ness, below Inverness Castle and along through the Ness Islands. The event is open to all age groups and the money raised is for WildHearts, a Scottish charity that provides microloans and business training to help people in the developing world work their own way out of poverty.

Participants can raise as much as they want but there is a minimum of £30. Participants get a medal, goody bag, and of course costume for their registration fee.  For more information or to register visit the WildDayOut website.
