Inverness Events and other events near Inverness for 2010

Here are some of the Inverness Events that are scheduled to take place in or near Inverness for 2010 and 2011 including the First Monster Race, Loch Ness Marathon, Inverness Highland Games and Inverness Tattoo.

Inverness Events 2010

3 – 11 September 2010: Blas Traditional Music Festival Venues and dates to be announced.

11 September 2010: First Monster Race. Teams of four run and cycle around the stunning shores of Loch Ness in Britain’s most famous duathlon.

11 September 2010: Inverness High School Community Gala takes place from 10am till 4pm on the Inverness High School grounds on Montague Row. Admission is free.

2 - 17 October: Highland Archaeology Fortnight - events and seminars throughout the region.

3 October 2010: Loch Ness Marathon plus 5K and 10K River Ness fun runs. The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon takes place along the shores of Loch Ness.

11 - 15 October 2010: Blazin' in Beauly music festival. Blazin’ in Beauly was started by the band Blazin’ Fiddles in the historic village of Beauly, 15 miles west of Inverness. With the aim of being “much more than a fiddle school” the intention of the week in Beauly is to immerse people in the music of the Highlands and Islands.

19 & 20 November 2010: Liet International 2010 in Inverness - song contest for Europe's regional and minority languages.

Inverness Events 2011

July 2011: Inverness Highland Games in Northern Meeting Park will take place as part of the Inverness Summer Festival. Founded in 1822 the Games are one of the most spectacular traditional Gatherings staged in Scotland and are one of the highlights of any visit to the Highland Capital.

July 2011: Inverness Tattoo will take place at the Northern Meeting Park. Full programme details will be available soon.

August 2011: Black Isle Show at Mannsfield Showground, Muir of Ord. This is the largest agricultural show in the North of Scotland. First

August 2011: Highland Field Sports Fair at Moy Hall The fair offers a diversity of entertainments and activities for all of the family, from creche facilities to archery! The emphasis is on field sports activities with competitions in fly casting, gun dog handling and clay pigeon shooting.

August 2011: Tartan Heart Festival on the Belladrum Estate, by Beauly is an outdoor festival of rock, country, blues and world music and is ideal for all the family.

August 2011: Inverness Book Festival will take place at Eden Court Theatre.

August 2011: Great River Ness Raft Race at Bught Park and River Ness, Inverness. Teams of 4 are invited to make a splash and raise sponsorship for Children 1st the childcare charity. The event starts at 11am with the homemade rafts arriving on floats at the fisherman's car park near Bught Park. The best dressed rafts set off on the procession alon the River Ness at 1pm.

August 2011: Glenurquhart Highland Games at Balirbeg Park, Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness.
