The Inverness synchronised ice skating team, the Moray Dolphins, returned yesterday from the British Synchronised Ice Skating Championships in Sheffield as gold medal winners. The team not only achieved the highest marks awarded to any team during this year’s championships but also the highest awarded to any team over the last 3 years. They also won the Team of the Year Trophy and the Most Enjoyable Performance Trophy.

The team has been dogged by injuries and illness over the last few months, forcing a few long standing members to withdraw. In spite of this the girls have worked incredibly hard – including getting to the ice rink by 5.30 am every Sunday morning to practice.

The Inverness Ice Centre is the home to a number of different ice disciplines. In addition to synchronised skating, curling, figure skating, ice dancing, and ice hockey all take place there, with regular competitions in all these ice sports. The facilities are also open for public skating.

The Inverness Guest House Association has a number of best Inverness B and Bs in the vicinity of the Ice Centre (and the adjacent Queens Park Athletic Stadium, Bught Park football, rugby, hockey and shinty fields, the Sports Centre and the Aquadome.
